METAL POLYMER MODELS
This section presents models in 1/87 scale, cast from a metal polymer based on steel powder used in powder metallurgy. The model metal polymer has almost the same weight as some metals of the Zamak family, which are usually used to make scale models. The models made of metal polymer are durable and they do not deteriorate over time , as sometimes happens with products made of zinc alloys. Without a protective coating, the metal polymer is subject to corrosionand starts to rust after six hours after being in warm salt water, which opens up a lot of potential for creativity. First, a red rust appears, which gradually darkens. The most beautiful and natural rust forms about a day after being in salt water. After rinsing with clean water, the oxidation process stops and indelible rust remains on the surface of the product. When heated (enough hot steam, a hair dryer or a soldering iron), the material is easily deformed. The metal polymer is easily processed.
